Proud of My Little Boo: A Journey of Strength and Independence
Celebrating My Daughter's Growth and Achievements
I'm so proud of my daughter Brianna, or should I say Boo. When she was a kid, she loved "Monsters, Inc.," so I nicknamed her Boo, my little Boo. The reason why I'm so proud of her is because she has grown up to be a beautiful, strong woman—independent and knowing what she wants.
In 2020, she graduated high school and got accepted to Arizona State University. We live in Southern California, so she was going to be six hours away by driving. The day came, and we moved her in, said our goodbyes, and headed back to Southern California. I was worried that she might not make it. I was waiting for the phone call. By the next day, she called us and wanted to come home. I remember talking to her and telling her to give it one week—just stay there for one week and let's revisit.
Well, that one week came, and I didn't hear anything from her, so I called to check in. I asked her how she was doing, and she told me she was fine. She had met some friends and had been hanging out with them. Those friends are still her friends to this day. Three years later, she graduated from ASU and moved into an apartment in Arizona to finish her nursing program. She is so independent now, traveling around the United States visiting her friends from college. I'm just amazed at what she has accomplished and how she faced her fears, was strong, and never gave up.
Now, I would like to think she's all that because of me, but the truth is she got that from her mother. My wife is one of the strongest women I've ever met, and now I can see that in my daughter. Because of that, I am so proud of my little Boo. For the men out there, I know we play an important role in our daughters' growth, but remember, a lot of those traits she has come from her mother.
