Joshua: Book Overview – Part 1
Share

Have you ever stood on the edge of something new—filled with both excitement and fear? Maybe it was a new job, a major life decision, or stepping into something God was calling you to, but you didn’t feel ready. That’s exactly where we meet Joshua.

After the death of Moses, the mantle of leadership falls on Joshua’s shoulders. He isn’t stepping into a peaceful season. He’s stepping into battles, unfamiliar terrain, and a people who still struggle with doubt. And yet, God calls him to go forward—not in his own strength, but in faith.

Why Joshua Matters for You and Me

Joshua isn’t just a book about ancient conquests or a historical record of land distribution. It’s a book about trusting God when the road ahead looks daunting. It’s about realizing that the promises of God require faith-fueled action.

You and I are often in that same place—standing at the border of what God has for us, but held back by fear or uncertainty. The Book of Joshua reminds us that we don’t walk forward alone. The God who parted the Red Sea is still parting barriers today.

Author & Date

The Book of Joshua is traditionally attributed to Joshua himself, with possible edits by later scribes. It was written after Israel had entered and begun to settle in the Promised Land—roughly around 1400 BC.
