Day 5 – Living for Eternity: The Return of the King
Why “He Will Come Again” Should Change How We Live Today
Reflection: Jesus Is Coming Again. Life Is Headed Somewhere. Eternity Matters.
“He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead…”
These aren’t just dramatic words—they’re a promise. A guarantee. One day, Jesus is coming back. Not as a humble servant, but in glory as King and Judge.
For the early Church, this truth was urgent. It shaped how they lived, how they prayed, how they loved, how they endured suffering. They believed—really believed—that Jesus could return at any moment. And because of that, they didn’t waste time on the trivial. They lived with purpose. With courage. With eternity in mind.
But for us? It’s easy to forget.
We get caught up in the temporary—the to-do lists, the worries, the distractions. We live as if this life is all there is. But the Creed reminds us: This life is not the end of the story. We are on a journey that leads to eternity.
Jesus is coming again. That truth should change how we live right now.
Application: Practice Eternity Today
What if you lived today like Jesus might return tonight?
Not out of fear—but out of love. Out of a desire to meet Him with a heart that was aligned with His.
Pick one eternal value—love, truth, mercy, faithfulness, humility—and live it out intentionally today. Maybe that means forgiving someone. Maybe it means choosing truth over convenience. Maybe it means slowing down and being present with someone who needs you.
Let your life today reflect the eternity you’re heading toward.
Journal Prompt:

What would I say, stop doing, or start doing?
