Day 2 – Jesus is Lord: Surrendering Control
Letting the Only Begotten Son Lead Every Part of Your Life
Reflection: Jesus Is Not Just a Teacher—He Is Lord
“And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God…”
This line reminds us that Jesus is not just a wise teacher or a moral example. He is Lord—the Son of God, begotten not made, the One through whom all things were created. That title, Lord, carries weight. It means authority. It means ownership. It means He’s not just someone we admire—He’s someone we follow.
But if we’re honest, we don’t always treat Him that way.
It’s easy to admire Jesus. To quote Him. To try to live like Him. But surrendering our daily decisions, our habits, our comfort zones—that’s different. That requires trust. That requires humility.
The early Church proclaimed “Jesus is Lord” with courage because they knew it changed everything. If Jesus is Lord, then I am not. He has the final say over my time, my priorities, my relationships, my future.
And yet—this surrender is not a loss. It’s a gift. When we place our lives under His Lordship, we step into a freedom the world can’t offer. He doesn't rule with fear—He rules with love.
Application: Declare It, Live It
Today, speak it out loud:
“Jesus is Lord.”
Say it in prayer. Say it when you're tempted to worry. Say it when you're making decisions. Let that declaration ground you.
Then ask:
What area of my life am I holding back from Him?
Maybe it’s your time. Maybe it’s a relationship. Maybe it’s your health, your finances, or a sin you haven’t let go of.
Choose one area—and surrender it. Speak the words:
“Jesus, You are Lord over this part of my life.”
Journal Prompt:
What area of my life do I still want to control? What would it look like to hand it over to Jesus today?
