Reflection: God is Not Just Creator—He’s Your Loving Father
The first line of the Nicene Creed isn’t just the starting point of our faith—it’s the foundation of our identity: “I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth…”
It’s easy to believe in a Creator—some distant being who made the universe and set everything in motion. But believing in God as Father is something different. It's personal. It's relational. It’s intimate.
“Father Almighty.” Those two words together tell us everything: He is powerful enough to create the universe—and personal enough to care about the smallest detail of your life. He’s not a cold architect. He’s a tender, trustworthy Father. And He’s your Father.
Yet for many of us, that’s a struggle. Maybe we carry wounds from our earthly fathers. Maybe we’ve prayed and felt unheard. Maybe life feels chaotic, and it’s hard to believe anyone—much less God—is in control.
That’s why this first day is so important. It invites us to see God not just as the one who made the stars, but the one who knows our name, our fears, and our hopes. A Father who wants us to bring Him everything—even our doubts.
Application: Let It Start With a Word
Today, try something simple but powerful: Start your morning by calling God “Father.” Whisper it. Say it out loud. Let the word settle in your heart.
Then, take one worry—just one—and hand it to Him. Maybe write it down in your journal or say it in prayer:
“Father, I give you my fear about _____. Help me trust You today.”
Let that be your act of faith today.
Journal Prompt:
Where do I struggle to believe God is in control? What would it look like to trust Him in that area—just for today?
